The Crown Range Road

It's been a busy couple of days. After arriving in Wanaka on Saturday, we decided to stay there for two nights. This made sense for a couple of reasons - the first being that Wanaka is bloody beautiful. The second being that I had a couple of Skype meetings back home on both days, and it was just going to be easier to stay in a place where we knew the wifi was pretty solid.

Saturday night after my first meeting we got stuck into a couple of drinks with the locals at The Lake Bar, which left us feeling a bit sorry for ourselves come Sunday morning. After a big breakfast and what may as well have been an IV of coffee, we managed to get our shit together enough to venture off on a bit of a road trip into the heart of the Mount Aspiring National Park.

The scenery was like something straight out of the Scottish Highlands. Beautiful snow capped mountains in the distance, enormous rolling green hills in the foreground, and a sweeping dirt road that ran parallel to the glacial river that connected it all.

Today began our journey further south as we took the Crown Range Road towards Arrowtown. It amazed me last year just how much I fell in love with this little town, and it was no different this time around - it really is one of the nicest, most picturesque places I've ever seen.

Tomorrow it's off to Queenstown for the night, before making our way down to Milford Sound for a few days.

Photographer from Melbourne's Eastern Suburbs. I like coffee, and doing internet things. Nice to meet you.
